Off to Connemara! My friend Kathy took me all over Connemara my first full day in 'the West'. I found it interesting how much it reminded me of the Denali area south of where I live in Alaska.
Just very rugged, lonely landscape - yep! Sounds Alaskan to me! ;)
No, those are not piles of manure like I used to think they were - that's peat! And here you can see how they 'cut' it from the bog and then pile it and then dry it. The Irish use/d it as burning fuel.
Here I am pondering the beauty of Kylmore Abbey. Sad story, again - this guy loved his wife so much so he built Kylmore for her; she died though and so it's an abbey now....
A stop off at a loverly beach....I think we were in County Mayo at this point...
