So, in the English university system, they have this 'middle step' which in the States is called 'Prospectus', but in the UK they call it an 'Upgrade'. Long story short, I had to write the Introduction and then one chapter for my dissertation and then 'defend' my research idea. I had my first try in July and I was 'upgraded upon revision', which means I had to make some changes. I made the changes with help from my friends and Heaven and in the end, passed! Hoorah, hooray! I was a mere PhD student, but now I am a PhD Candidate! (Oh the English! ;)
I found that even after living in London for 9 months, there was a lot I hadn't done whilst I was there, so, now every time I go back to London for school, I bring a 'To Do' list. To see 'Wicked' was on my list. After my Upgrade I rushed off to the Apollo Victoria Theatre to see it. I had heard about it and how good it was, and it was, although, it left me a bit 'uneasy' inside - it claims to tell the 'true' story of the Wicked Witch of the West. Apparently she's kind of good, Glinda is an egotistical airhead and the Wizard is bad....it kind of left me with a 'hey, wait a minute, something that was 'bad' my whole life, suddenly isn't bad...umm...what do I do with that?' ;)
Inside shot of the stage....the music was really good, a lot of nice, nice harmonies....
I then ran off to China town for a Chinese buffet - good food, good food....
And then I went and visited some of my friends....that was the 'Upgrade' day....
